Might be picking up an lt1 setup (heads, intake, ecu) this weekend…if it will work on my gen1 block that is. :)

I haven't touched the truck since tearing the motor down in august, but that's about to change soon. I've decided to keep the tbi for now and give it a full rebuild with an upgraded cam, tune, and maybe a stall converter while I'm at it. Trans will get a oil and filter change and the t case will...

Haha ok! I'll get to work on it right now. LOL My goal is to have the motor and t-case rebuilt for Applefest/Hill Climb weekend. Not sure if it's gonna happen though, motor is only half way there and I haven't even touched the t-case yet. I'll be up there either way for that weekend though...

    JAYB1RD's Mediocre Build Thread

The axle is stripped down, cleaned up, and in primer with nothing but a set of new ball joints and knuckles on it right now Part of me wants to just fix the motor and take it to the dunes a couple more times this season but I think I might take the time to swap it while I have the garage space...

Motor work is going slooow, mainly because I'm not as motivated as I used to be to work on the truck I guess. The engine is sitting on the stand partially taken apart now but I haven't gotten to the oil pan yet. I did fix my daily driver problem though, bought this so I can just keep tearing...

Ya, that was on the random setting. If I set it to a normal pattern it looks very official, espescially at night time. They have been very nice to have whenever I find myself stopped on the side of the road. I don't mind being copied, that just means I did something right if someone wants to use...

    JAYB1RD's Mediocre Build Thread

Moved the truck into the barn last night. Shot a video of the flashing LEDs as requested while I waited for the engine to warm up. Don't watch it for too long, my terrible camera skills and the flashing lights may give you a seizure...

Thanks Brett, I'll work on getting a vid some time this week maybe. Ended up getting the truck towed home from the dunes yesterday on a borrowed trailer. After being silly with the throttle and climbing some long hills in 2WD I noticed the "check gauges" light was on and I had no oil pressure...

    Project: SAS Tow Rig

Thanks, I'll give him a call. Looks like they have a dana 60 kit on the website for just what I want so I'm sure he can set me up with something that will work. Truck looks better on 35s, seems to be missing a handful of wheel studs though! haha

    Project: SAS Tow Rig

That stance looks great for tow rig/DD duty, nice job. Must've spun around real nice in the grass with no bed on it LOL Couple questions for you. Where did you get the u-bolts and spring plates from for the front? I want to use the round u-bolts like that with the threads pointing up but can't...

    Time to regear/swap axles

Always cool to see when the goodies come in. Bet you can't wait to try them out!

    Time to regear/swap axles

I used a pressure washer and stuck the wand in the tubes and twisted and rotated it around until junk stopped coming out the other end. If you don't have access to a pressure washer then a broomstick and some rags with plenty of cleaner should get the job done just fine.

    Updates on the truck

Niiiiice! That stance is perfect. What height springs did you use? And I assume you kept the 2" bl too?

    Time to regear/swap axles

That housing looks plenty fine to me. The 4x4 one I put in my rear wasn't in any better shape underneath the u-bolt brackets. I did the swap at the first of the year, no problems at all with 33s and a healthy foot in the dirt. The 1978 front axle I'm working on now looks the same too. Those...

    Project: SAS Tow Rig

Nice rig, and nice parts list too! I'm about to rebuild a f250 hp44 to swap into my truck and I want to keep the 8-lug stuff so I'm curious; why use 8-lug chevy outers as opposed to the 8-lug ford outers? Differences in the brakes? You prefer 6 bolt chevy spindles to 5 lug fords? Something else?

Some pics of my new exhaust, dog, and leaking trans. pan.... Video, it's steam not smoke! It sounds just right now IMO, sounds very similar to a flowmaster'd and h-pipe'd mustang. Loud enough to hear it while cruising in OD but not obnoxous...at least until it hits 3000rpm!

What did you do to your offroad truck today?

Parked mine outside by the barn door while I replaced the fuel pump in my moms 99 'hoe. I hate dropping gas tanks...

Thanks everyone for all the great comments! Sorry I haven't replied, I just found and added a subscription to this thread so that won't happen any more. The wheels are in fact spare rims from an NNBS, which years or trim levels I'm not sure. I picked them up as is from Churd69 at fullsizechevy...

Tech: 88GMCtruck's Budget Solid Axle Swap Build

Ya I know, that's in my bookmarks too! But when I'm on the shop floor with a minute or two to kill I use my phone to research truck stuff on. This is a nice smallish sized resource page to load and not have to remember which of your pictures is on which page LOL Thanks for the leaf info. I...

Tech: 88GMCtruck's Budget Solid Axle Swap Build

Nice consolidation of info and pics, now I have a reference thread to bother you on HAHA Are your 52s up front just stock without overloads? Did you put in an AAL or anything else? I guess I thought the brackets added 3-4" of lift if used with stock springs and if you want more you need to get...

No breakage at the dunes, no good pics either. Too windy or too rainy all weekend. That's the bad news. The good news: I picked up a F250 HP44 from 6chevy9 on the way back home. I've been busy researching what I want and need for the swap. I think I will buy some bolt on shakle hangers and...
