Yeah, I don't think the booster is bad (aside from being ya know... junk from the factory, but if it is actually bad, I'm going to upgrade it to the hydroboost system), since the brakes work well enough to bust all the lines, I am now replacing. But of course the rear bleeders are completely...

Yeah, it's not just rough though, it's very solid miss fire on a pair of cylinders, iirc, it was cyl 4 and 6, even after doing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor (those all did not have many miles on them, and looked fine, but replaced anyways, just in case). Which, is probably then the injector...

Yup, had already ordered that one. Ordered the booster vacuum check valve as well, since it's the one that came in the truck, and it won't hurt to replace it. Since I'm probably gonna replace the whole vacuum line anyways, since I'm willing to bet it's not gonna wanna come off the fittings...

Thanks, for some reason I just could not find that one at all, and was only ever finding the one that goes in the booster itself. That'll help a bunch.

That's the part that goes in the brake booster, not the part that goes in the upper intake manifold.

So, I've been trying to find this fitting for a while now, it is the fitting that goes from the upper intake manifold to the line that goes to brake booster. I cannot find, for the life of me, the name of this fitting online. Obviously I'm just not searching the right words or something, but it...

Well, the strike has made AC Delco parts hard to get. But also, a few hundred bucks is literally the difference between me getting the spider in January, and me maybe not being able to get it at all, on the current financial situation lol. Thankfully, this truck isn't a sole vehicle, and if...

I was looking at https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/standard-ignition/fuel-delivery/fuel-injection/fuel-injector/358cd96fd168/standard-ignition-fuel-injector-conversion-kit-new/std0/fj504/v/a/3382/automotive-truck-1996-chevrolet-k1500-pickup-4wd?pos=2, and hoping I could save a few hundred...

Yet *another* update. After getting the tank back in, everything hooked up, ect ect. Fire up the truck, few miss fires, replaced the plugs, cleared up 2 of the random misfire cylinders, still had 2 more going on, replaced cap and rotor (which was put in in 2018, but was fairly worn out already...

So, had some time and energy, was digging around trying to figure out the issues, and discovered the fuel pump dies, when the underhood fuse and relay box gets jostled. Which seems... I need to check the wiring from the oil pressure switch to see if that's actually sending power to the fuel pump...

Yeah, already went through and did that, gonna do the relays as well, when I get a chance to setup a jig to do it in. Thankfully, I got a year long sub for alldata for the truck, for cheap a month ago, so atleast I got that going for me, lol.

So, further updates. I undid the VMC transmission ground TSB "fix" and it made the trans codes go away (nice), but the truck won't stay running, it will start after sitting over night but stalls after a minute or 2. Fuel pressure is *LOW* but it hold, so I don't think it's the regulator. Picked...

96 k1500 sitting for half a decade, need recommendations

I wouldn't say better, but... I do what I can, when I can. Which usually amounts to about 2-3hr of work on the truck a week or so. This the mess this truck seems to be, is extremely frustrating, and it's always one thing after another. Since everytime I touch it now I find something new I need...

She, not he, lol, but also been dealing with long COVID for the last year, which has drastically limited my amount of work I can do. Actually came back to post an update today. Got a replacement transmission and repaired transfer case popped in a few months back, had to replace the trans cooler...

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

It depends, I may repair it, I may not, it's going to come down to what money I can get together, and if I can get another vehicle running, which I should be able to. If so, I will likely slowly work on the Santa Fe over time a bit, since the vehicle was useful, especially for trips to Costco...

So, this post wasn't looking for advice, just showing the carnage, I appreciate the advice that has been given in good faith and without condesention, but you have no idea the circumstances about anything else going on, and might not be a bad idea to take a step back. The only reason I was...

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

I think you missed the rest of the message there. That's not a priority, replacing the engine is not the main priority, it's getting *a* vehicle on the road, and with the cost of the Santa Fe repair, it likely won't be that vehicle.
  18. S

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

So, the problem is, we need a larger vehicle, like Santa Fe size or more, for what we need the vehicle for. Also, the going price for anything down here with a title that I could have any reliance on, is nearing 10k, everything less than that, is either already beat to crap and has 200k+...

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

Right now I'm having a hard time finding an engine for the thing though, I might be able to find one at the local LKQ, but.... I don't know if I would trust that out of there, I'd need to do a basic rebuild of it before putting it in (pull the heads, inspect valves, springs, cams, and crank +...

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

Yeah, worst case I'm out like... the cost of a tow to the dealership and back, which... isn't terribly expensive. But due to not trusting the places around here, i gotta pull out my amps and subs from the car. If we end up not fixing it, I'll need to get my 1/0 power cable out of there too...

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

I was talking to someone who has had a lot of experience with these Hyundais, and these engine failures, and they were talking about a ton of people who've had a lot of luck going and getting Hyundai to replace these suddenly failed engines, even at this age and mileage. I figure, it doesn't...

Not a build thread, but an engine gore thread

That's certainly a possability, but apparently these sorts of failures are pretty common on these Hyundai/Kia 3.3L Lambda engines. It sucks so much, I haven't even pulled the valve cover on the other side, but I'm sure it's just as bad. I am going to try to get Hyundai to replace the engine if I...

96 k1500 sitting for half a decade, need recommendations

For replacing the stock lines (since there has been a trans blow up since they got put in), I'd rather just spend the money it would cost to get new stock lines and get -6AN lines, especially since eventually there will be more work put into the truck than this, and I'd rather do that now than...

So, luckily, all 4 corners of brakes were done while it was parked, so the brakes are maybe 2 years old if that, but I will be replacing all the brake lines ASAP though, since... I don't trust em to last too much longer. I already have a Tru-Cool 40k on the way, with the adapters to use -6an...

Thanks, I just remembered fuel filter and was gonna edit my previous post, so thanks! I did the last fuel filter, when I did my fuel pump.... 12-13 years ago.... and I'm willing to bet my dad never did it while he had it and was destroying the truck....
