BUT, how often do you really change your transmission fluid and how much are you really $aving with Hygard? Just seems like using what’s recommended an easier choice.

Ditto, what's the savings?

I can see a dedicated-purpose / special-purpose transmission, e.g., one used for drag racing (or whatever), where it's easy and cheap to use any old hydraulic fluid.

But for -30F to 120F ambient conditions, all types of driving, 30kmi-50kmi (or more) oil change intervals... why not use the stuff the Gods intended.

I can't imagine the Deere stuff has the friction modifiers and pour point depressors / viscosity modifiers (to name a few) that are beneficial to an automatic operating in a broad range of conditions.

Yeah, Hygard may be good stuff (we use it in our Deere equipment) but...

This may or may not be true. I really don’t know. BUT, how often do you really change your transmission fluid and how much are you really $aving with Hygard? Just seems like using what’s recommended an easier choice.
Unless, the reason is that Hygard is an upgrade.
Sorry in advance for derailing this thread. :roflsquared:  :ROFLJest:
I agree with you there, I'll put the recommended fluid in my trans, but that doesn't mean that hydraulic fluid is this awful terrible thing that has no application in a transmission, as stated by the OP. Savings? Not a clue.
Yeah, what are you doing talking about the title topic?? That's not what this thread is for!! Lol.
