What front license plate does everyone run?

Calif requires front state issued license plate. They might not pull you over that alone, but it will get added on if you get pulled over.

So does Texas. Otherwise I would have a Heartbeat of America plate, or the one from the square body era, the Bowtie with the bolts.

I am glad we do not have front plates here I am not a fan of the bracket I would take it off or maybe get one of those step things they make that go on it

Fortunately my province doesn't require one, first thing on all the new trucks I've bought is to remove the bracket and toss it.
My first welding project a few years ago was buzzing the two holes on my 91 closed.

Yeah,I've done that on mine. One reason because it was torn loose from the lower mounting holes and because it was butt ugly. I'm thinking of making a more invisible bracket with a piece of SS strap metal. Currently my HD tag is hanging on the wall of my shop waiting for me to pull one of those round tuits out of my pocket.

Currently nothing. The holder is there, but I think I'm going to take it off for now. I do like the Bowtie and "Like a Rock" plates though.
