And here I am. I'm a long-term resident in the D.R. from the U.S. (Fla).

I wanted a Blazer for years and found a great guy who had one who decided to let it go.

Bodywise it is in excellent condition even though it was involved in some sort of minor accident at some point. (the left front inner fender has been changed and the radiator mounting panel has a slight dent).

As a precaution, I've replaced most of the critical stuff underneath to make it dependable. It starts at the touch of a key and runs very well. Other than a Nardi wood steering wheel it looks stock.

I've got a slight issue with the gas gauge I'm trying to resolve. When full the needle is at 3 o'clock and it's empty at 11 o'clock. So - full is below the full marker and empty at the 3/4 tank marker.

Also, the trip odometer doesn't work, so I bought a really nice-looking gauge cluster to see if that resolves both issues.

Rough life, right?

Welcome to the forum. You can use a plastic fork, or a metal fork with a rag under it so it wont scratch you cluster, and put that between the gas gauge needle and the instrument cluster. Pry out words and the needle will pull off. Do this with a full tank, and you can put the needle back on in the correct place. If that doesnt work, then you may need to replace the air core steeper motor that drives the needle from behind. You tube has videos on this replacement. If you get a new motor, be sure it is a F motor. F is for fuel. The motors are not interchangable.

I suspected it was something silly easy like that. Thank you very much for the suggestion. I'm going to swap out the gauge cluster this weekend and I'll check the location of the new gauge once it's mounted before I finish the installation.
I put a Denali cluster in my 97 Silverado. They have the 120 MPH speedo. Had to swap out most if the steeper motors before the install. I also swapped out the odometer. Took that pic at 250,000 miles. Im at 255,000 now.

Wow! Looks really nice! I'm shooting for keeping mine completely stock (except for the steering wheel), or I do something like that for sure. I don't need the higher range speedo, mine has never seen north of 60. lol

Well,,,, I have had mine upto 5200 RPMs in OD before, and that was several years ago when it still had 342 gears in the diff. I have 373s now. My best guess was I was doing about 140 or so. I still had the 100 MPH speedo. It took a long time to come back down to 100 MPH after I let off of rhe gas. I have had it around 110 or so lately. It dies good at those speeds.

Wow, that would be scary in a Blazer with their short wheel base. I have a Prado that can get up to 100 but the Blazer would not be a happy camper at that speed..LOL

Ahhh, that makes me feel good to read stuff like this!
A man after my own heart.
Speed doesn't kill. Stupidity does.
I've rode shotgun in friend's big H.P hard charging vehicles, cruising between 100-140mph for hours on end and carried on deep, thoughtful conversations.
With others, after 10 minutes @ 30mph, my heart was in my throat & I couldn't get out of the vehicle fast enough!
