Im wondering if there is a favorite compressor people are using. I have a 1998 2 door tahoe with the 5.7 vortec. Thanks!

I swear the Sanden compressor is the go to? My 1500 seems due for one, so I'm all ears here.

Sandens are the go-to upgrade for both the older GMT400 compressors (R4) and the Vortec era stuff too (HT6) - just watch out though as while Sanden, the actual brand, has a good reputation...there's a TON of look-alike copies of them, and quality can vary greatly as they're a bunch of Chinese knock-offs. So either be sure it's a real Sanden compressor, or at least buy from somewhere reputable with a good warranty in case you get a junker.

You'll need to look up a kit made especially for your generation of GMT400 truck. There's not just a simple bolt-in Sanden compressor; there's a few conversion brackets, hoses, stuff like that. No biggie.

What series of Sanden compressors are people upgrading too that require additional brackets and such?
Just browsing through the products and they have a whole "OE GM Replacement" catalog

Since I no longer have a GMT400 I'm probably a few years behind on what's available. When I looked into Sandens forever ago, you had to get a kit with some pieces to help adapt the Sanden type compressor. If that's no longer the case, that's awesome news. :D

This is the bolt in vortec upgrade compressor. No special brackets or adapters needed. I run it on my 78 with a vortec serpentine setup plumbed to my vintage air.

I've been running this compressor on my daily driver for almost 2 years. Works great. I bought mine directly from Sanden to make sure I didn't get a copycat like @someotherguy mentioned.

I got mine from vintage air with my kit for the C10. It appears they don't carry it anymore though.

Im not sure if you can get original Sanden anymore-that's why I bought this one. And I was looking for original. It says Sanden on the sticker of mine tho.
