I have a 1999 Tahoe with the Z56 Police Package and I guess my intake gasket went and I kept driving while the temp gauge climbed. Long story short it now has a bad miss and a knock in the bottom end. It has 100,000 miles and was a Fire Dept Battalion Chiefs vehicle when I bought it so I'm sure there is mega idle hours on it as well. I am going to put a GMPP 383E crate engine in the truck. My question is has anyone installed one of these in their 96/99 GMT 400 and I'm looking for real world experience on how it worked or works for you.

i installed a Blueprint Engines 383 in a '97 RCSB with no problems. The intake restricts you from achieving the full potential but it has much more TQ and notable increase in HP. I tuned the black box but soon converted to a 411 PCM. If keeping it "stock" Black Bear can provide a nice tune for you. Consider headers and exhaust as well. It should complement the weight of your rig well.
