Lucky you, I believe 97 was the year that that changed. Mid year of course so as to make it more confusing.

Yup, I didn't realize I had thought it switched over to electric much earlier. I remember switching my sisters old rcsb stepside truck to cable twenty years ago. It must have been an early 90’s truck.

Other than the thermal I really like this year truck. No security, evap is simple, vortec rather than Push button 4x4 which isn't really a plus but it keeps the cab clean.

Plus the previous owner said that he already switched it over to electric. Which was another one of his many lies about this truck. Oh well. Getting it where it needs to be.

The 4x4 dash light stays blinking so I may need more thought or work on my design. not sure why it doesnt lock in. It seems like the axle is locking in.

Its weird this looks the best to me as far as body lines are concerned but the back acts like it has a 2” body lift.

And the right rear seems to stick up a little.

Had a few leaks but tightened up some hoses and the trans cooler line compression joints. Seemed to fix it all. Abs light was on but off now.

Still have a ton of stuff to do. Was a bit lazy today. Have to make the permanent bed mounts. The middle ones are in mid air and farther forward of the tahoe mounts than I thought. Will have to get creative there.

My 97's 4x4 button stays blinking too, but only for about 5-6 seconds. I've read it could be the 4WD actuator that causes this. I found an ACDelco one on amazon for under $80. I don't know if that's the case with this or not.

Ah cool. Didn't have time to mess with it yet and see whats up. Going to hopefully get the bed mounts done today. Just putting on the new front shocks now.

Getting everything squared away. I have to figure out what I am going to do with the doors. The bottoms are pretty trashed at least on the drivers side. I have the doors off the tahoe I think the shells are ok may start pulling them apart and painting next week.

Made some rear bed mounts. I have to make the middle mounts but i am going to try to just bolt them on.

Bed spends more time on the tractor than on the truck

Filler hose is off a f150. I just saw a pic of one and it had two 45s. I had to cut it in half because it wouldn't reach and the 45’s were at the wrong angle anyway. Will get a 2” pipe to put in the middle to complete it. Had to cut and beat a little section underneath the bed to clear the hose. Probably ideal to do some sheetmetal work to clear the hose wouldn't need much but this works.

Front bed mounts. I had to modify them because I miscalculated the height when i first made them.

Put the hood on, the front grill painted the frame with chassis saver. Hit the cab corners with epoxy. May try to paint the primered bedside tomorrow. But getting pretty close to wrapped up on the major stuff.

I have to figure out how i am going to fix the door bottoms. They are rotted somewhat badly. I could use the tahoe shells and transfer stuff over. These doors seem to close and function a lot better though. But happy to get most of the major stuff behind me and a running moving truck again.

Needs a new respray and some more bodywork badly. But that will be coming.
