Did some minor stuff this weekend. The rear left drum kept locking up. Ended up being a bad wheel cylinder so I got that swapped out and put new shoes on that side. Fixed it right up.

Engine started smoking a little like it was burning coolant. I cheated and threw a little bars leak in it. Seems to have stopped whatever it was up. I just need to get this engine to last me another couple months till I can swap in the 5.3. Think I may switch over to a floor shift transfer case at that time too.

Worked on the rust a bit on the worst door not super happy with the job. I made a patch but it didnt match the curve as much as it should. Probably end up replacing it with an actual panel or just try to find some better door shells.

Drove to my parents place to have a playdate. Frankenhoe needs to step up her game.

Totally.

Missed an engine ground that was giving me issues. But got that straightened out.

Went back at the drivers bed side. Did more bondo work around the filler and hit the whole side with primer/sealer.

Used my new gun. Devilbiss FLG5. It lays down paint really nice.

Got the bedsided topcoated. Ended up getting a little more orange peel than i would have liked. I rushed it a bit and my cheap gun regulator was wonky. Ordered a good proven sharpe one so will wet sand and hit it again this weekend. Learning a lot about paintwork. Its a 10 footer though.

I was doing a couple things that didn’t make it turn out perfect. The regulation. I think i had too much air and couldn't dial it how i wanted by using the crappy reg I had. I should have just dialed the gun down. Plus I was moving too fast. And shooting wet on wet. I think i can get it flatter this weekend with the new reg and not being in a rush for time. Plus not going over flashed sealer. It prob could use some reducer as well.

Dropped her off for state inspection today and she got stickered. Its been a pretty long road on this one.

Now the fun begins. Going to figure out the drivetrain. Have my 5.3 sitting ready. Have to find a 4l80e to match it. Get the 14 bolt sf under the back. But that will be in the summer when i can take it down for a bit. Will focus on the k30 right now and get the towpig up.

Did a little work. Repainted the bedside with the new reg. Ended up going too thick this time and got a couple runs. So may go at it again at some point. I cut and and buffed it and it looks passable but not perfect. The rest besides the runs came out nicer.

I added an aux into the radio. Which kinda sucked. Everything is really brittle and I broke some tabs etc. had to screw the power port back in to hold it. Will get some nicer screws but was bummed that it wouldn't come out without breaking. The interior of this truck was the only thing that was decent on it.

Put the pac adapter behind the heater controls. I bought a power port that had a headphone in and rca on the ends for the pac.

The port also had a usb connector. I cut the usb end off and wired the power leads into a stepdown transformer. That was wired to the cigarette lighter wires for 12v.

So i have charging power plus a aux in. I bought a headphone breakout dongle that has a pass through for charging. So if i plug an iphone in it will charge and output audio to the headphone jack

Seems to work good. Sounds nice though i hate the iphone connector. To easy to break connection.
