I searched and nothing came up with my search. I have a 99 burb and recently got this code. I have done the following already. New plugs, wires, distributor, ran seafoam through and still get the P0304. I have a code reader and this is the only code showing. Erased codes and about 50 miles later it comes back on. Any ideas on what else it could be?

1. Put the code reader in the garbage can, get a REAL scan tool.
2. P0304 is misfire on cylinder 4. Check compression, fuel, and spark on that cylinder.

Checked, getting fuel, and spark..... still need to do compression check. Very frustrating

If you had a scan tool, you could potentially correlate misfire with throttle position, manifold vacuum, engine temperature, RPM, or twenty other variables.

Without a scan tool, you're going to do this "The Hard Way".

I'm not saying it's impossible, or that you couldn't get lucky and find the issue fairly quickly. I'm saying it'd be heaps easier most of the time with a scan tool.

"Code Readers" are like mentally-retarded scan tools. You can get useful information out of them, but it's challenging AND the amount of info is very limited.

Did you replace the entire distributor or just the cap and rotor? L31s are known for eating distributor gears

Might also wanna look into the crappy spider injection system. They're known for getting gummed up. Even if it doesn't fix your problem, the mpfi conversion will certainly get some pep back in your engine (assuming you don't have a compression problem)

I did the spider injection changeover when I did a mini overhaul. So I did the following:

Spider injection conversion
New distributor
New wires
New plugs
And ran 2 cans of seafoam through the vacuum lines and 2 through the fuel system......

Plug on that cylinder looks wet in comparison to the rest....
