Don't those EGR valves have three solenoids, which are activated singly or in combination to vary the exhaust flow through the valve?
I believe those on @Scooterwrench 's 5.7L do. Mine do not. I'm bowing out as it'll be a while before I wrench on anything and I don't want to further hijack Scooterwrench's thread.

It's all good,we're talking EGR's after all. My 305 has a single solenoid that turns ported vacuum on and off to modulate the valve. The EGR has that little orifice in the nipple so as that solenoid is cycling on and off the diaphragm isn't fluttering.
