oh and the original radio spot is some thing like 4x6 hole and actually there is a lot of boat and motorcycle and ATV's radios that will fit in a 4x6 opening

Huh, now that is interesting. I never thought to look at marine stereos for the weird size opening. It would be kind of neat to throw a 100% marine rated stereo into one of these trucks, including the speakers. Especially if you had a truck with the factory vinyl floors. You could just hose it out to clean it! Maybe not literally, but a man can dream...

Just out of curiosity how close is the dash opening to 4x6, though? It looks off comparing the pictures. Both of my trucks are '97s with the newer dash so I have nothing to measure. Looks like that option would definitely take a little fabrication where as the Retrosound would bolt right in. Still a neat idea, though.

i was referring to the 88-94 dashes

Yeah that's what I mean, have you actually measured the opening? Was just curious how close it actually is to 4x6 in the older dashes.

ok i just went out to my 94 with factory radio and my 92 with a pocket the opening for the original radio is 3 1/2 x 6
And this is copied from crutchfield

  • Cutout Dimensions: 5.5" (w) x 3.5" (h) x 2.125" (d)
  • Front-Panel Dimensions: 6.0625" (w) x 4.0625" (h) x 0.9375" (d)
