To quote another, I’m not trying to be a “stick in the mud“ here either but it’s been brought to my attention that others are concerned with the community scan tool going to new members and vanishing. I don’t want to be the last confirmed keeper of it before it’s gone for good.

Great idea, and very kind gesture.
I have a suggestion, that anyone who wants to use it sends a name address and active phone number in a PM to admin. Sometimes folks disappear from forums for reasons outside their control, and this would provide a means of contact.

Is this something that has been done by others ? I’ve got the contact info for next in line (newbie status still) and wanted to put the question to all of you before shipping it out. What are all of your thoughts?

I think it's important that people be held accountable for community property. As long as members including newbies are willing to let folks know who they are and how to get hold of them, I say go for it. We've got a good diverse group of folks here, I think most of us are mature responsible adults who appreciate having access to a scantool and will take care of it.
Basically, use your gut feeling. If the person feels sketchy bring it up to the group. Not saying that's what's happening here, but that's my advice.

I would think any PO box or business address should be a red flag. Gotta have a real residential address and a valid phone number that you can verify their real by texting them at least.

Name, Address, and Phone number in PM only. Dont share their info unless it disappears.

A simple text saying 'Hey I'm getting ready to send it to ya, just want to make sure your ready for it.' and if they dont respond, dont send it.
