Good to know. I attempted replacing the shoes today, I surrendered and decided to go buy brake tools tomorrow
They really are a pain.
Is the nut on the axle supposed to be not torqued down much? When I removed the clip and the key way, I was able to easily spin it off, is that normal?
I could easily turn the nut on mine. I think that's normal.
Is your truck JB8? I'm trying to figure out what size shoes my crew cab has (without pulling the drums!) and it's JB8. The backing plates look to have more contour/dish instead of being flat. So I'm thinking that's the 13x3.5 ones. It does stop well!Shoes are done on one side. At least I chose to do the worst side first lol. After a lot of degreasing and cleaning, and the use of the brake tools I bought this morning, we are back together. I will wait until Saturday to do the other side.
