Looking at rock auto I dont see a difference in K1500 rotors other that the price ranges for the different materials they are made of. There is a difference in 2500 and thats light (6 lug) or heavy duty (8 lug).

In the older trucks the F44 code gave you bigger brakes, but it dosent look like it does in these. Your only factory type option is to use an 8 lug 2500/3500 caliper, I havent actually done this yet, but according to this tread it should work.

Its been about a year since i did my front brake swap and my memory is a little bad Im pretty sure I used rotors, calipers and pads from a 2500 series on my 1500 6 lug truck. I think I posted pictures of the difference in the parts on FSC back when I did it but I cant find the thread. I did notice a slight difference in stopping power but I also think the pedal goes down a litle bit further too. Either way, it was a great upgrade.

FWIW, the 2500 series heavy duty radiators also fit the 1500 series trucks WITHOUT having to make any mods to the fan shroud or anything. The radiator is a lot thicker but it fits perfect.

UPDATE: I found the thread on FSC and this is the post I made back when i did the swap

"3/4 pads DO WORK. I know because I have them on my truck. If you had an issue with them on your truck then you must have assembled it wrong or somehow got the wrong parts from the store. Both the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks use the same the rotor so there should be no reason why the calipers from the 3/4 ton truck wouldnt work on a 1/2 ton truck. They both use the same bolts holes as well. "

Hey guys I thought I might add Brakemotive on ebay sells decent pads and rotors as a combo. It was brought to my attention while looking through the trailblazer forum, when I was looking to upgrade the brakes on mine. They are cross drilled and slotted with performance pads. got front and rear rotors and pads for the trailblazer for just over 2 hundo. The front for the 88 gm is around 100$ .http://www.ebay.com/itm/GMC-CHEVY-K1500-88-89-90-91-92-93-Brake-Rotors-Pads-F-/220923639081?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3370133529

^ For being relatively cheap they perform great. The guy that happened to pop out of a side road was pretty mad, cause he did so 1/2 way through me breaking them in. And he hated the "invisible rabbits" that kept jumping out in front of me. lol He almost ate bumper 3 times those things stop on a dime.

Sure, when you do a hydroboost swap, you need the hydroboost unit itself, a hydroboost master cylinder because it has a smaller OD bore to fit in the hydro unit, 3 hydroboost lines 2 are pressure and one is return. You also need a brass tee to tie in to your existing return line between your steering gear and power steering pump, you can swap to hydroboost power steering pump that has an extra return fitting on it but there is no need to unless you want to do it, the tee method work's just fine. You also must use the matching hydroboost brake pedal, the brake pushrod pin is in a different location on the hydro. pedal. If I am pulling everything that I need for the swap at the salvage yard I make sure to grab the brake pedal out of the same truck. This whole swap can be done in a couple of hour's providing that yuou have a helper to help bleed your brakes.

Very nicely done Draggin... Sounds simple enough and str8 forward... does the power steering lock up when braking in2 a turning..? P.s. Some1 please do a Hydroboost swap write up..! With details and lots of pretty pictures..!

No the steering doesn't lock up at anytime, I have daily driven these truck's with hydroboost for year's, the only problem for me is getting back in a truck with a vacume booster and crappy brakes!

The only line that need's a tee is the return line, because the hydroboost pump has 2 return's instead of 1 like a regular pump, and you need to buy the other hydroboost lines from an auto part's store. It goes like this, the pressure hose goes from the pump to the hydroboost unit, and then another pressure line comes out of the hydroboost unit and goes to the steering gear, the third line coming from the hydroboost unit goes to the return tee on the pump. Lastly another return line from the steering gear also goes to the return tee. If there is a power steering cooler then that last return line from the steeing gear goes in to the cooler and then to the return line tee.
