The Astro's JVC head unit won't play out of the rear speakers. I believe the speaker leads shorted to one another and killed the amp.

The HU has pre-outs for the rear channel. Is it possible to add a small amp so the rears will play again?

I don't want to get another HU because Momma has post-concussive syndrome from the accident that killed her last Astro and she would have a hard time learning to work a new one.

What amp is dead? If the h/u only has one fuse it's probably only got one amp.
The short answer to your question is yes, but I'd investigate the issue a little further.

The front still sings but the rear doesn't after one of the rear speakers fell out! Put it back in and zilch.
