Mine is a '94 but it was a Vortec before Vortec was ever on the '96+ engines.
Cold idle depending on if it's winter mornings or not gets me 35-50 psi.
Cold cruise is around 40 psi
Warm idle is around 5-10 psi
Warm cruise is around 35 psi
I don't know if the sending unit or gauge is bad or if my oil pressure really is that low. It's been that way for probably 8,000, maybe 10,000 miles. Doesn't make any noises or signs of wearing out. I drive it almost every day. It's got around 226,000 miles on it.
