I have removed 10 to 12 of those and yes they are a big sticker, either wait until a warm sunny day or use a good heat gun to help it come off, also peel it off slow, because it's stuck good enough that if you pull it all of at once you can warp the tailgate skin, typically I have been able to buff the tailgate out and you can barely notice any difference in paint color.
Have you done any white trucks and could you see any color difference

Yeah I have done it on white truck's, to me they are one of the easiest to blend, color's like dark blue are a pain but still doable.

I didn't have the large banner only the small Silverado badge that came on the '98s, that was the only piece that showed any sign of ghosting, I feared the molding when be worse but it didn't show any at all. If have to look close to see mine, and truck has spent the majority of its life in direct FL sun.
