This $300 1988 Chevy C1500 is very solid mechanically (I just installed a new transmission).

It just looks like a Piece of ****.

I am not about to spend $2000 on redoing the body on this thing, so I decided to do a cheap ass paint job on it.

After fixing the larger rust holes with some old license plates, I went on sanding.

I took the whole truck down with some 220, then 320.

I also fixed a couple of dents, and spot primed all the bear metal.

I then ran to the store and picked up 4 cans of that Rustoleum Turbo spray cans.

I have an actual spray gun, and have done some passable work in the past, but my buddy is barrowing my air compressor, so I decided to use spray cans.

3 coats later, the truck is transformed.

I was contemplating doing the same thing. Looks good from here, how good does it look close up?

Nice! I just did that same thing to my yard truck the past summer. I started to run out of time so it only has 1 coat on it now so it still needs another couple coats and wet sanding before I post up the results

Man, you are right about that molding adhesive in the video. That stuff is really hard to get off. I've been warming mine up with a heat gun and using a plastic trim tool to try to scrape it off without scraping paint off. It's ridiculous.

Its got 335k, but runs perfect.

Unlike the '88, I actually put some effort into the prep work.

I fixed some dents, welded up some rust holes, and even masked it off well.

All I got to do now is get a bumper, and some new trim for it.
