yesssss

I love that blue. What does your rpo sticker say? I'm guessing 39U Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic

Isn't that the same as Chevy Indigo Blue Metallic. The color of my first GMT400 and MY FAVORITE by far. The way it flops in different light is amazing. The best factory GM paint IMO.

Hello Keeper,

My '99 C2500 is a 39U, and once wet-sanded & buffed out I was amazed by the depth of color,
especially in the direct sun. According to this '99 C/K Color brochure, 39U = Indigo Blue Metallic:

Of course when it comes to the General, maybe this same paint color
is given a different name when it's used on a different line of cars or
even the GMT800 vehicles?

I'm with johnckhall, can't believe my good fortune that I crossed paths
with a RCLB big block truck in this specific color for short money.

@Jskingry, that's a nice truck. It's going to be a beauty with fresh
paint in this color. It sure looks to be the same color as mine. '99 C2500 chore truck

Looking forward to the post paint booth photos.

Good on you for being a GMT400 patron of the arts. :0)

Thank you @Road Trip ! I love the fact that you always scratch a little deeper.

So, in turn, I did some more digging and it appears that GM used 6 different color names for the 39U code over the years, but are never identified by year, of course. Cross referencing backwards from brochures such as yours, we could probably build an accurate list, but....

  • EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY,AQUA BLUE METALLIC
  • EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY,DK ADRIATIC BLUE MET
  • EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY,INDIGO MET
  • EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY,DARK BLUE GREEN MET
  • PAINT,EXTERIOR,TROPIC GREEN METALLIC
  • EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY,BLUE METALLIC
And I too am looking forward to seeing a brand new paint job in this color. :)

When I first saw Indigo Blue on a GMT400, I knew that was the one I wanted when I bought new. I had my hometown dealership locate a '94 Indigo Blue over Lt Autumnwood two-tone ECSB Z71 with tan interior (buckets/console). My first big boy purchase at 25 yo. The IB color, as mentioned, is so awesome. It's dark navy, purple, lighter sparkly blue, or many other hues depending on light. If my current truck had tan interior, I'd repaint it at some point in that same colorway. I don't think IB/LA would look too good with my current all garnet red interior. :p

And just to further hijack the poor OP's thread....

My second project truck is here but is a year or two away from being worked on so I can accumulate parts and get my shop finished. I just love the color, but the little black dually comes first.

Wow. Reminiscent of an old Zeppelin tune -- that's got a whole lotta lugs!

That's gonna end up in SUB territory. (Sport Utility Beast :0)

Nice.
