^^^ ThisI thought "SOME" (higher GVW) Vortec heads had exhaust seat inserts, while "MOST" Vortec heads have the induction-hardened parent metal on the exhaust side; and none of them have inserts on the intake side.
Cost cutting, extra time, extra machining, extra parts to do seats. In my experience it was the over 8600 gvwr that got the hardened exhaust seats, early model USA production as opposed to Mexico produced engines and heads.
I think they were going in light duty trucks as wellI thought the Mexico cast blocks were only crate engines in the US?
