That depends on your ECM/PCM. Are you talking about an automatic trans? If so, your 92 ECM may not be able to control it. Did someone put in the Vortec (not Vortex:Big Laugh:) engine in your 94 S10? I thought they had TBI engines through 95.

Is the 2500 an 8 lug or 6 lug?

If an 8 lug, the truck had a 4L80e and your S10 has a 4L60e, so they are not a direct swap.

If a 6 lug, the truck had the 4L60, non-electronic version of the 4L60e of your S10. It will bolt up just fine, but the electronics won't work without modifications. I don't know what's involved to do that conversion.

So what year model 4L80 will work in it with no problems does it have to be a 92

I don't know for sure. Can you look at your wiring harness connectors. I've read the very early 4L80e models have a "bolt-on" connector. I don't know what years this applies to or what the thing looks like...strangely, a lot of early 4L80 questions here lately, LOL.

But your plug looks like this, any 4L80e should work:

Pretty sure electrically they were all the same, they just tweaked some internal mechanical parts. Here's a good article:
https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmissions/automatic/4l80e

Only thing to watch out for is the 91-95 or so have the transmission cooler line side by side (circled on red,) whereas the later ones are are far apart (circled in blue.) So if you get a later one, you have to extend one of the lines.

PWM = Pulse Width Modulator, right? I don't know what that is or does, LOL.

I bought a 4L80e from a guy that said it came from a 95 C2500. I created a post a while back, but I thought it was compatible with the Vortec, as that's what it's going into. Actually my transmission has a '94 on the serial code, so maybe tranny was built in '94 for a '95 truck? I'll find out soon...

Here's a link that talks briefly about a '93 4L80e:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/1539486-4l80e-pwm.html

Guy says his '93 transmission (that came out of an RV, not sure if trucks would be different?) is the "old 12 pin center bolt plug and my wiring harness has the newer 11 pin connector..." but they suggest it can be swapped (the harness.)

I suspect that's what the OP is going to have to do if that's the case...

Blazers got a motor in between the TBI and Vortec with poppets, IIRC it was a proper sequential system with normal injectors.
