Hey guys so I have a 90 gmc c1500 5.7 and recently i noticed a ticking noise when accelerating. At first when driving under 30 you won’t hear it but as soon as I step on it progressively gets louder the faster I go. And quites down when I let go of the gas. It comes from the driver side but don’t know exactly where if it’s either coming form the inside our outside. Any thoughts ?

On my 1993 GMC I had the same thing well it turned out to be the Flexplate it had cracks around the bolts I seen it after it fell down.

Remove the plate cover and check it with a flashlight I did mine at night.

Yes to both. Exhaust leak more likely based on description. Guessing the "donuts" where the manifolds seal to the Y-pipe, but it could be anywhere ahead of the muffler.

Cracked flexplates are common on one-piece-rear-main-seal engines. But that tends to be more of a "knock" than a "tick".

A loose spark plug is another possibility.
