Suburban gas tank install on C1500 pickup

Has anyone installed a Suburban gas tank in between a set of 1991 C1500 Pick up frame rails? Also if it has been done, does the stock Suburban fuel pump and gauge sending unit work in that set up?

In the photo,my plans are to move the air tanks and compressors and put the fuel tank in their place.

I'll go ahead and say, if it's lowered much, skip it. Suburban tank is LARGE (40+ gal) and hangs down quite a bit.

I'd say get a fuel cell and run it

Doing a fuel cell correctly is above most peoples' skill level. It's also expensive. Price out a true metal-walled fuel cell with an integral bladder. Then consider that it requires yearly maintenance and that the bladder needs replacing every few years. A well-fitting OEM tank is a great setup.

Probably not, the frames are dimensionally different. This would require more custom work than the suburban tank.
