Speedometer Stepper Motor

Was wondering if someone could tell me how to check the speedometer stepper motor.

Out of curiosity whats the reason to troubleshoot it? If its bad or suspected bad why not just replace it. I would say as long as you have tested signal to and from the VSS and your still not getting a correct speed this would be the next logical problem
