An issue has developed with my 97 K1500 Suburban. When I attempt to place vehicle in park some time the indicator stops between park and reverse. If left there the vehicle can roll and will not start. I have to use force to get it into park.

Shot a video so you can see what occurs.

In the video I mistakenly say drive, when I mean park, and vice versa but I actually mean when trying to put vehicle in park.

I'm guessing the shift cable may need adjustment.

If anyone knows what this, I'd be grateful for the advice.

Thanks,

Dave

HEYOOOOOO.. have someone in your vehicle with the brakes applied, chock the wheels...
Go under the vehicle and disconnect the shifter linkage from the cable... push the transmission lever ALL THE WAY FORWARD, might take some force.

Then there should be a white clip on that tranny cable so you can adjust it, adjust it so it’s just able to hook onto the tranny lever... should be a problem solved
