Have 3 sets of metal tailgate straps with hardware for GMT400 trucks. These are similar to the type used on Squarebody and previous C/K generation trucks and were an option on early (88-93??) trucks before being discontinued. Can be used on later trucks as well. Hard to find and will not break or fray like the more common cable type. Last pic is from the web.
