I actually thought about doing something along those lines. Make the emblem a bit bigger than the original.

bluex the insert looks pretty good. . . I've just been being cheap. What don't you like about the insert you got? The fit?

It has to much arch/curve for the grill an the hardware they sent with it was never going to work. The screws were way to big, I had to use some others I had on hand. The bar that holds the thing together is also really close to the aux trans cooler on mine. That won't be an issue if you don't have that extra cooler though. At $30 its probably cheaper than trying to make something yourself too...
