The way the trucks went as far as I can remember:
88-95 excab sb c/k2500 6 lug only
96-00(classic) c/k 2500s 8 lug, excab s/b, xcab l/b and crew cab s/b(rare)
88-95 you could get a Reg cab l/b in a 2500 with 6 lug or 8 lug
The code for the 8 lug trucks on the glove box label is C6P this is the heavy duty chassis option.
NONE of the 96-00 8 lug extended cabs were offered with a 3rd door because as I was told from the Chevrolet dealer here in town GM was concerned with cab "flex" while towing and hauling.

Good looking truck. I wish the previous owner of my truck wouldn't have opted for towing mirrors. I think it looks so much better without them.

The 454s are beasts. I drove a 5.4 Ford for a while and the 454 straight puts about anything I've driven to shame. Needless to say, I'm a proud owner.

Thanks. It didn't look so good when I got it, but really just needed the cap/bug guard/running boards removed and a good detail. Now the motor is out of it. I tore it apart today and hope to get it to the machine shop Monday. Then hope to get it back quickly and start reassembly.

I've driven the Vortec 454 trucks. Also the 496 in the later trucks. They do run well. Again, I just didn't want the poor mileage. We'll see how mine does with a fresh motor.

The crew cab dually shortbeds were K3500's. A guy I know has one he bought new.

I saw a 97 ecsb 2500 8lug the other day. Not including my mods it was almost an exact clone of my truck except that I'm a 1500. Same color inside and out. Same year and I'm pretty sure it had the 350 just like mine. Really the only major (factory) difference was it was a 2500 8lug and mine is a 1500.

Very nice. What size tires are those? They do wonders for adding a little extra height to the ride.
