Greetings. I was glad to stumble on a site dedicated to GMT 400s. Having been a '73-'87 Chevy K10 owner for awhile, I was over at CK5 before. The family grew and and the K10 had to go in favor of a '97 K1500 GMC Sub. While I had initially been looking for a pre-'91 Suburban, the wife mandated something a little newer over mechanical simplicity ! LOL.
Anyhow, I gave in and we picked up a gently used '97 (pics forthcoming). The Sub is pretty much stock other than the PO running 265's vs. the original 245's. It has a Thule surf board/ski rack that has no keys, so I have to get some to remove it. Other than that, I hope to make a few mods to give the Sub a little more character.
I hope to pick up a 14sf, 6 lug here shortly with 4.10's (I have 3.73's now). I've got my eye probably on a 2" body lift and maybe going 285's so as to keep the wife happy when she has to load up the kids. Re-gear to 4.10 up front. I don't like the brakes on this thing but that may be just some air in the lines but they sure are spongy.
I am in Round Rock, TX and glad to be here on this site.
