Around here, most people take them off and replace with one that has cutout for hitch.never seen a truck take it's tailate off to tow a 5th wheel or gooseneck or any type of trailer. Plus a tailgate can save someones life in a situation. When I was working on the beef farm for the college I was at we had someone hook up a gooseneck that didn't get it right. The trailer popped off with a bunch of pigs in it on the highway. The tailgate caught the trailer and we the driver was able to pull it over without losing the trailer.
ive seen it many times, most around here put these aftermarket tail gates that bend around where the hitch would go over while backing in
Ive seen those tailgates and decided why would you buy a trailer if your too lazy to crank the damn handle the extra few turns to lift it above the stock tailgate. People are too damn lazy.
I never said it was a good idea, just saying thats probably whats going on.
Zero miles means he swapped tailgates before he even brought the truck home. I doubt he did that.
Exactly. It could have a million miles on it. A tailgate with no dents is a tailgate with no dents regardless of how many miles are on it. Saying it has zero miles is irrelevant.
