Not quite sure how all this works. Have a 95 extended cab z71. Some stuff done a lot more to come. Been a mechanic for close to 20 years. I'm curious about the benefits of swapping to the serpentine drive from a 96+. I have one and need to put an ac compressor on by next summer so was going to swap everything when I resell the intake in a week or so. I prob typed all this crap in the wrong spot, if so, my bad.

Welcome. No idea about the belt swap. What's the big difference between 95 & 96 as far as belt routing?

it switches locations of the compressor and alternator as well as goes from old "drum" compressor to a 4 bolt compressor and from what I hear the tensioner is better. A system from a multi port injection motor going on a tbi motor.

Unless you are having issues, or de-stroking your block into a real screamer, I don't see the point. Just IMO.

I have thrown the belt before when I get near redline if I'm in one of those moods and driving like an a-hole.

so far dayco and autozones best (not that that's any good). I have all the brackets and figured I'd prefer the newer ac compressor. I've heard it's a better setup but just curious if anybody else has any info. No big deal if not I figured it's a good starter topic for my first time on a fourm.
