The positive 6 ga cable that runs the fuse/power box is adequate ( but that’s all it is) and if there are any accessories/additions (4 hi mod, brake controller, 12v trailer charge wire, etc) attached to the those two extra studs on the power box a larger cable is an improvement
A ground from alternator bracket to battery seems to help alternator output at idle.
These trucks are 2-3 decades old and replacing the cables are generally good insurance. Although I’m one of the first to say a lot of these “improvements” are a step backwards, upgraded cables generally help.
