Nbs style dash bezel into 96 dash

Okay so the double din dash bezel from a 03 and up is supposed to work in a 1996? I had read and seen that it did on facebook but now the post is gone. Anyone got any insight?

Have you compared the obs to nbs? 4x4/cubby near left vent is immediate tip that no it is most definitely not a shopnswap part.

I was to understand that there was a year that was double din from factory that swapped in with a little modification. Maybe i have years or generations wrong. The metra kit is spendy for something that doesnt fit well. I have the cheaper cut to fit version and its junk.
