im thinking of buying a single cab. it has the nicest interior i have seen in a long time, but, the 1 piece bench seat (i guess 2 piece, really) sits very high....

is there a way to lower the bench closer to the floor, or should i just install some 1999 & newer 40-20-40 seats?... would those even fit?

THE BENCH SEAT IS DIEING IN AMERICA!!!!!!
i will not recline and sit by while this happens!! we must figure out how to retain our bench seats at a comfortable ride height! for reasons that should be obvious... :hump:

How is it 'too high'? Never heard that complaint before. Wouldn't a 99- bench be the same height??

I always thought you sit pretty high on these seats. My buckets aren't to bad but I have been on a bench seat and thought you sit to high. Hell I would even like to cut down my bucket seat brackets to sit lower. I'm with you k15 blazer, would like to see it done.

On non-power seats it would be easy to chop the brackets as there's a lot of dead space. It's sort of like chopping the top on a car though, because the contour in them you'll have a mismatch to deal with but not a huge issue. If the seats are power, there's far less dead space you can chop - pretty much a no-go.

I was just looking at doing this the other day!
Far as I can see, the uprights wouldn't be to hard. Think that modding the cross bracing underneath would be more work
Just back up the cut & welded areas. Seats take a lot of the impact from the body when in a collision. If those welds were to let go, insurance would have a pretty good argument for not paying injury claims.
