Longevity of OEM distributor?

Went to grab my shiny shaft today.:cool:

Super simple to take apart. No visible issues so far.

There are quite a few differences though. Firstly the machined diameter at the bottom of the chinese one, where the oil passage is, measure 31,6mm. The GM one measure 31.65mm. Not sure if that is enough to have a noticeable impact on oil pressure.

Oiling grooves on the shafts are different. They are longer but does not go as high on the China one.

Shaft diameter is slightly different, with the chinese beeing the bigger one. 11 vs 10.8mm. (the diameter at the rotor is the same).

Chinese bushings are brass, GM are ferritic, most likely some kind of sintered type by the looks of it. (The GM bushings are magnetic, even though the lower one looks like copper).

The chinese dizzy is missing the GM thrust washer at the bottom above the gear, but has one at the top where GM has nothing.

The Chinese coil sheild is brass and is secured with a washer and a circlip. The GM one is copper and is secured with one of those terrible push on one-way lock washers.

The magnet and the cage on the Chinese distributor is just a hair smaller than the GM one.

Basically everything is just slightly different...:rolleyes:

And last but not least, the Chinese magnet seems somewhat stronger than the busted 30+ year old GM original.:)
