If I'm not mistaken O'riely's(at least in my town) has a Bulldog Security auto start kit on clearance for about $20 and that's what I installed in my truck the other day. I would just install that if I were you. I have the oem keyless entry and that only worked only half the time at a descent range.

Not mean to thread jack but could you take a after market alarm and retro fit the remote into a GM remote?

Too many variables to answer that question but I'm going to say that would just be one big sh¡tshow and when you were done you'd have a buggered up OEM remote and a buggered up aftermarket remote....,

Is it possible to install a factory system into a truck that did not come with it.
And if so what would you need to take.
