Lets just say that I am not into all this high tech stuff, LEDs and all that. I just want to put some brighter bulbs in my truck. It has the 4 lamp system, not the sealed beams (97 GMC).....I know the plastic lenses are a bit faded, but want to try brighter bulbs first. I imagine that it has the stock bulbs in there, 55 watts I am guessing. I am looking at these on Amazon

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00D85RRFK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A16JJI2I7Z1ZPQ

I see that they show 9005 and 9006.....Is that the part numbers for high and low beam, so they would have 2 of each in there?...Help clue an old guy in, thanks guys

9006 are the outer low beam bulbs and 9005 are the middle high beam bulbs. New bulbs and cleaning up those lenses will help a ton (if they can be cleaned up.)

1.) I would buy a new set of aftermarket headlights that are nice and clear in conjunction with some good quality bulbs. (the brighter they are the lower the life expectancy)

Or

2 . if your still not happy (oem lighting only goes so far) Look into aux lighting such as a led bar or some light force lights.

Don't waste your time with those bulbs in the link either. If you want xenon bulbs buy a HID kit if you want to go down that path.

I run GE Nighthawks in both of my trucks and like them a lot. No blue tint like on the Silverstars so IMO they're a little brighter. As mentioned when I ran Silverstar Ultras I think I actually lost a little vision distance due to the different color of light. The Nighthawks are slightly yellowish just like the factory bulbs, but brighter than stock and less than half the price of the Silverstars. Make sure you get the standard Nighthawk bulbs, the cheapest ones. Those are the only ones without the blue tint on the glass. I really wouldn't recommend those bulbs you linked in the first post for the same reason, all that blue tint robs you of light output. If you're not impressed with how bright the stock bulbs are, you really won't like those off-brand "Xenons."

EDIT - These are the ones you want.

I just did this replacement. I can actually see down the road now!
Cars passing me on a four lane road used to give me 10x the light than what I got from my own headlights.
My brights are incredible now, especially with the 4 high conversion.
Feels like I'm driving a new truck...almost.
