Yeah, I omitted that, my bad. It's really the aluminum-oxide in the caustic they're after (IIRC).The spent caustic goes in anti-perspirant, but not regular deodorant.

Now you're thinking!Hmm, we've moved way beyond basic sand blasting, to all kinds of other media.... corn cob, walnut shell, ice, soda, glass, water with abrsives. if it has aluminum oxide in it, maybe we could media blast with anti-antiperspirant deodorant???
Now you're thinking!
It's really hard to find genuine Tri-Sodium Phosphate in most stores in America.an alternate solution if you dont have an air blower handy to dry them is to rinse, then spray on a final rinse solution of trisodium phosphate/water mix and let air dry. No flash rust will form that way.
Dip? DIP? Isn't that how they killed the cartoon characters in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It's been a while since I worked in an extrusion plant with anodizing and "bright dip" (that was with phosphoric and nitric acid mix - nasty stuff).

Most boxes of "TSP" are NOT Tri-Sodium Phosphate. They're Tri-Sodium Phosphate Substitute.
TSP is just a way to make heavy-duty detergent.
The EPA made detergent manufacturers remove the phosphorous from the product, because it's a problem in the wastewater. Acts as a fertilizer, promotes algae growth in ponds. Depletes the oxygen in the water, and then the fish die.
So now, TSP doesn't have P in it. It'll have TSP in big letters, and then "Substitute" in tiny print. Deceptive-marketing criminals.

If you look hard enough, you can still find the real stuff, but it's not common.

Correct on the TSP Sub, though the places I've bought it are a little more honest in their markings - the entire name was all in the same size font. (Years ago, pretty sure it came from an Ace hardware.)It's really hard to find genuine Tri-Sodium Phosphate in most stores in America.
