An assortment of different home made schemes to keep someone from driving off with your rig. For under 20 bucks you can fix it so only you know how to start your rig.

If you're clever enough to hide it properly, even pro thieves will have to spend more time than they want to to get it started. Most pros move on after having to frig with it more than 1-2 minutes. "Joy riders" won't stand a chance.

I'm not saying on an open forum what I've got done to mine, but no one is getting mine started without knowing "the trick". Car jackers (not a problem around here) would also be in for a nasty surprise with mine as when my truck gets a certain distance away from me it dies.

;)

I don't bother with alarms and sirens, the only use for those is "smash and grab" types and you can't stop them anyways....

I was thinking about wiring in a switch to one of the major fuses under the dash and hide it. Good luck to whoever tries starting my truck with the fuel pump/injectors/etc. disabled.

A good thief will find that in a few seconds.

Anything under the dash or in the interior will be found with little trouble. They've seen it all.

The one with the reed switch has a chance if you locate the working bits out of the interior. The thief will find the push switch but it will do him no good as all it does is disable the vehicle. It cant turn it back on so it does him no good to rip it out and try to short it....

Yeah I get you. I was thinking of putting it in a really stupid location, though. Like, somewhere that NO one will think of, or use a tiny switch that will be invisible to anyone but me. It's a good idea in my head, seems really stupid when i try to explain it. Lol.

Thing is, if it's accessible from the seat it's easily found by a thief.

If it's not accessible from the seat it becomes a PITA every time you get in and you eventually stop using it, rendering it useless.

For you, I'd recommend the reed switch immobilizer. You can leave the kill switch in plain sight for ease of use and hide the reed switch behind a plastic panel. Swipe of a magnet and the truck is good to go. Tap the switch when leaving and it's dead as a door nail.
