1995 K3500 6.5 diesel with dump box and plow.

My cousins truck will over heat on him when crusing down the freeway. If he takes back roads it's fine but at higher speeds it over heats. If he takes the plow off it runs great, he drilled some holes in the plow and it helped a little. What can he do to make it run cool with the plow on?

not a whole lot you can do really

i would look into a strong fan clutch or adding an electric fan too

also try to angle the plow all the way one direction if not already, also check coolant level and condition too

Try not to run with the plow raised in the complete up position if possible

He runs it as low as he can right now. An extra fan is a good idea! What happens if you run with your Tstat out? Sorry for the dumb question

if you run with it out, not all that bad but it will take a long long time for it to actually warm up, with it out, its just as if it is open all the time

Yeah we are going to look for a fan, what do you guys recommend for a fan? Is there a how-to around here by chance?
