Just a little Cobra but it works decent enough when off-roading so we can chat between trucks. The antenna is magnet mounted to the roof. The coax goes down under the transfer case shifter, under the front seat, out the rear door,up the door jamb(tucked in behind the door gasket)then on to the roof.Nothing fancy but it works for me.

PCTEL whip on the LH side directly across from the AM/FM. I like to keep a low profile... I hate the firestik look

Great white, how well has the mount on your shell worked for you. I have been looking at getting one but have concerns about damage to the shell from wind load on the antenna. To the op, mine is located same as yours. Seams to be the most common place.

I made mine, I didn't buy it.

There's a hole cut in the shell and the mount is made from 16G steel. It is folded and welded and extends out a couple inches on all 4 sides. Then it's sealed and RF bonded with braided straps.

So, no troubles at all.

:)

I really want one of the new HAM / CB combo radios and scanners.... theyre as much as CBs used to be... but CBs now are cheap as dirt cause no one uses them like they used to.
but on a road trip there is nothing better X) cell phones suck, and are (now) illegal to use when driving

I love your mic hanger. I do the same thing. I have a CB/PA mounted in the same location, Whip antenna on the toolbox and PA under the hood in the spare battery compartment.

Exactly. With it pulled out just a little like that, that little lip is the perfect size for the mic to hang on.
