Had my brakes done back in November 2009 because they were howling & squeaking sounding like school bus brakes when I hit the brake pedal.
New pads
rotors turned
New shoes
new rear brake hardware kits
drums turned
brake fluid flush

fast forward 6 months and some days and now I'm getting brake sqeaking but only while in stop & go traffic in the city. Need some ideas on what the cause might be because I'm definetly taking her back to the shop that fixed her.

I don't think they are but I'll check my receipts.
I'm thinking they're just the standard semi-metallac Pep Boys Brand.

Should I have gotten HD pads & shoes ?

I think you got the right ones, all the HD pads we have ever tried, squealed constantly. Nothing like doing a brake job twice!

I have found that the cheap Autozone and such pads actually don't squeal like the high buck ceramic pads do. This is just from personal experiance.

I was told that very same thing about Ceramic Pads & Shoes so I bought the Wear Ever Silver brand brake shoes and Wear Ever Gold pads on the front.

The guy I ride with at work his brother in law has been with Bosch braking for like 30 years. He said ceramic pads are useless unless you have a ceramic rotor. The way the different materials wear makes a difference so semi metallic is the way to go. He made a good point, where do you get a ceramic rotor? Just a little info he passed along to us while changing his nieces brakes.

I'm pretty sure it rear brake noise.
I think I remember an old thread or 2 from my FSC days where
several members had simuliar issues with their rear brakes.
Mines seem to have a bad intermittent squeak when driving
in city stop and go traffic so I'm thinking something is heating
up and binding or something. Sure as heck got me pissed
considering I had a fresh brake job done 6 months ago.
