Automatic Trans issue

I haven't looked into it much, but driving home today in my 97 v6 2wd, I heard a Snap noise, and all of the sudden I couldn't get out of 3rd gear (auto tranny) It wouldn't reach 4th gear but would go 3,2,1. Anybody ever encountered this?

I don't understand what you mean by this. Could you explain a little better? Thanks

The truck would be able to downshift from 3rd all they way to 1st without an issue. But, accelerating threw the gears I could get to 3rd gear and it wouldn't get into 4th. Sorry about not being specific! Getting from 3rd to 4th was always slower than I assumed it should, but now it just never went into it. Took it for another drive just to see, and everything was okay, but still makes me nervous about earlier.

3-4 shift solenoid might be going bad.
