Anybody else rockin the 305?

That's weird, something's not right, or your tires are just really sticky. The '97 Tahoe I just picked up has the 3.42 G80 as well, and it breaks the 255/70s loose instantly. The only one I had that wouldn't spin was the '99 Yukon I just sold. I didn't have it long enough to figure out why, but it ran perfect and got great mileage.

I Don't know either, but I get around 20 MPGs and its not a hot rod, so it don't get treated rough very often, so it doesn't bother me, the 96 on the other hand can be a handful if given too much skinny pedal and its 3.42s and 315s

i'm glad y'all have 305s smoking tires, my 98 350 won't, it kinda just squats and goes, maybe i need a less performance tire on it, my firestones just don't slip much, but i guess the G80 helps with that too :shrug:

Well mine were was spinning sticky Bfgs 295/45r20. 373 rear end. The 5 speed helps lol

I love My 305 , Its a 96 vortec its fun burns tires gets me up to speed quick I have exhaust done on it lowered 2 inches all around . Engine has 251 thousand on the clock . She still kicks and packs a punch . ill keep my 305 , also look into a 335 stroker kit.
and a windjammer super charger

my friends NBS silverado has a 305. he has a few goodies like throttle body spacer and a super chip and a few more stuff, his truck is about the same as mine performance wise and I have a 5.7 350 tbi

I started modifying my 95 305 TBI with a blower and got over 300+ RWHP out of it.... till I replaced it with a 355

I got turned off on 305's when they had their "chocolate cams" issue in the mid to late 80's.

They fixed the issue of course, but they've turned me off ever since.

It got so I could swap out a cam and lifters in nothing flat. Great for the shop though. I had 3 bays going at the same time with cam changes once.

My "personal prejudice" aside, it's an OK little mill otherwise.
