Im trying to convert from 5 lug to 6 lug. Could just using a K1500 rear axle from a 98 work on my 92 C1500? Would it just bolt on any problems? I know the 4wd is wider but i don't mind that.

My brother has a '90 RCSB C1500 and I asked him this question before, but he said something like the K1500, 6 lug axle is wider. I'm sure if you search you will find the answer.

Yes, should be a 10 bolt. Not positive on the ring gear measurement, but 8.5" sounds right. The 9.5" was the 14 bolt found in the C/K2500s.

What is your GVWR from the door sticker? Can you look at the differential cover and count # of bolts?

I think very few 1500s had the 9.5 14 bolt, besides the SS models:

SS has the ultra-rare 5 lug pattern...

Could just count the number of bolts on the diff cover.
Yeah, the number of bolts on the cover is not the reason the diff is a "10 bolt", it's the number of bolts on the ring gear but, it just happens the cover has the same number of bolts.
