Are you running LEDs in the factory cargo light housing? If so, take them out and go back to standard bulbs.

Long story short... Most of them will do exactly what you're describing without some modification. The bases of the PCB type LEDs are too wide and will short out the sockets, and the type with the wire contacts needs some of the contacts clipped to work.

IMO if you want to run LEDs in the third brake light you're much better off just buying an aftermarket LED housing.
