I've been thinking about cutting my muffler off and putting true dual straight pipes with no mufflers on my 97 Vortec 350. Will this cause a loss in horsepower because of a decrease in back pressure? or will there be a loss in power at all for any reason?

I only have single exhaust but I cut my muffler off after the cat. There's really no increase on low end, but my midrange has soared through the roof!

i have the same motor with this exhaust setup pacesetter headers, high flow cats,no mufflers all 2 1/4 pipe sounds really good,i didnt lose any power actually feels like i gained alittle through out the powerband.you have some very small 1 7/8 inch head pipes on that truck so youll have plenty of backpressure.
