Guys, I have a 97 K3500 that I converted to diesel. It was a 350 gas automatic and I switched it to diesel with a manual transmission. I pulled the auto dash and installed a 97 diesel manual dash so it wouldn't have the "prndl" and it would say "diesel fuel only", I know its a little ocd, but its what I wanted. All the gauges work perfectly except for the tach. I'm using a tachometer converter to condition a stator signal off the alternator. Problem is, my tach doesn't read at all and was wondering if there is a way to artificially generate a signal the tach would respond to, just to see if I have the right wire in the harness. From what I can see on the web its a white w a black stripe wire that goes into the cluster. Can I just tap a small battery on this wire to see if the tach at least jumps?
Thanks for any help!
