Hello all,
Since I have a wonderful 95 k1500 burb, all my damn electrical components seem to be specific to this 1 year
I have searched around on here and I am unable to find much in my search.
I am looking for a new AC control head. Looking at rock auto I found ACDELCO Part # 1572266
I have tried repairing mine with no luck. I have ensured all my louvers cycle freely and all blend
door actuators seem to cycle when off the louvers. verified my clutch works. So I am back to the control head.
My issue is the new ones look different in the back then mine does.
here is what mine looks like
http://www.ebay.com/itm/95-TAHOE-TEMPERATURE-CONTROL-W-AC-173463-/141675434470?hash=item20fc8391e6&vxp=mtr
and the new one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190914133729?item=190914133729&viewitem=&vxp=mtr

Just wondering if this is just an updated part and if it will work. It looks to have the same connections and all.
looking to purchase new since its a 20 year old part I would rather not fight with an old part.
thanks for your help
josh

working on posting pics I hope the links work ok.

The newer a/c controls for the 95 do look different than the original unit. As long as all the connectors are they same and its for the 95 then you should be good.

I have seen an adapter harness that allows you to use a 96 and up a/c control with the 95 but I have not been able to locate one. I have a 95 burb as well where the rear defrost button does not work.

Since your question has been answered and I've got at least 2 burb owners here, can I hijack and ask a question?

Do y'all use the rear a/c? I've got a leak in the lines going to the rear and I'm thinking of capping off the lines, but I'm not sure if the front alone will cool it off enough.

Does the front do a good enough job on its own?

I do use the rear a/c on my burb. The front alone for me is just not enough to cool that much air space. Sometimes I run just the front when it's not so hot outside. When it is really hot the rear a/c will cool the back down.

My 95 is old and does not seal very well so the rear air is a must in my burb. If i want it cool I will just use the front but if I want it cold I use the rear a/c as well.

Thanks guys. I do have an adapter but its for a burb without the defrost so never tried to use it on a newer unit. Does anyone have a link or know a part number for the adapter with rear defrost? Would make it easier and probably cheaper to find new control units.
Also on the rear issue, a guy just posted on a fb page about a kit he just got for the rear lines. updates the hard lines. just a thought.

My control head took a crap a couple of years ago as yours did.I went to Pick-A-Part and looked around until I found a '95 Burb with rear defrost.Got it home and installed it and has been working as it should since.Maybe I got lucky...dunno..

On really hot days or when the burb has been sitting in the sun for a few hours I turn the rear A/C on full blast for a while,it helps cool the entire insiide.

Thanks for those links. Have you verified you have 12v at the connector for the controls? What have you done so far as trying to repair them? I replaced a couple transistors in mine to get them working again I forget how much they cost exactly, but I think it was $3 or $4 for everything. I want to say $1.50 per pack and I got a pack of pnp and a pack of npn. Mine's a 96, and I'm not sure what your 95 has. Post some pics?

I did replace the transistors but no change in symptoms. Right now I only get air on the floor. Waiting to get that fixed before I get the system leak checked and filled.
